Frequently Asked Questions
How do I clean my sex toy?
How you clean your sex toy will depend on the make-up of your product.
For a good clean, we recommend incorporating a toy cleaner into your sex toy hygiene routine. Do this by removing residue with scent-free soap and warm water, then spray the toy and wait 60 seconds. After this, rinse your toy with water and wipe dry.
If you have a silicone, glass or metal toy without a motor (i.e. no electrics) you can give your toy a deep clean by boiling it for 5 to 10 minutes. You can also put your non-mechanized sex toys on the top rack of your dishwasher and run it through a sanitise cycle without soap. Note, boiling will be a superior bacteria-killing process than your dishwasher and it is not recommended to use your dishwasher for cleaning your toy if you share your dishwasher with people other than sexual partners.
What lube can I use with my sex toy?
Depending on the material of your sex toy, you can use silicon, oil, or water-based lubricants. Check the materials below to learn which lube is right for your sex toy:
Metal – silicone, water-based and oil-based lubricants
Glass - silicone, water-based and oil-based lubricants
Silicone – water-based and oil-based lubricants. You can also place a condom over your toy to use it with silicone lube.
Are glass sex toys safe?
Glass sex toys are safe to use for internal play, not to mention fun! They are non-porous meaning bacteria won’t get caught in them. They can also be heated and cooled for temperature play, they are compatible with all lubricants and their smooth surface makes them an excellent choice for slippery play. Not to mention their hard surface allows for a stronger sensation, great for those who want to try squirting or enjoy a harder penetration.
However, it is important to take extra care of them. Storing them in a safe place where they won’t be knocked is paramount. As a precaution, inspect your glass sex toy before each use, in case the toy was unintentionally knocked in storage. If you drop your glass sex toy on a hard surface, discontinue using your toy for sexual purposes as small cracks might have formed. This is when your glass sex toy can retire to a beautiful home object!
Is Posmo's packaging discreet?
We understand you might want your package sent to your work or home where colleagues, housemates, kids, or neighbours might see it. That’s why we have kept Posmo’s packaging discreet.
You can expect your products to arrive in a black box with black tape and a mailer sticker on it. The ‘sent from’ address will be de-identified.
Can you return a sex toy?
Due to the nature of sex toys we cannot offer returns on our products due to change of mind. We can only offer a return on a product if it has a manufacturer defect. If this is the case, please email hello@posmo.com.au.
We know this makes gifting sex toys tricky. That’s why we offer our Posmo gift cards in amounts of $50, $100, $200, $300, and $500. You can opt to have the card physically sent to the receiver or have it emailed to their inbox. Problem solved!
Are sex toys safe to share with multiple partners?
Our co-founder Sexologist Laura Miano advises it’s okay to share a sex toy with multiple partners only when following these instructions:
1. The sex toy is made of non-porous materials like glass, metal, or silicone.
2. You thoroughly clean your sex toy before and after each use. This is best done with a sex toy cleaner for silicone or metal toys that have a motor. For glass, metal and silicone toys without a motor, Laura recommends boiling or putting your sex toy through a dishwasher cycle (check Q1 on our FAQs for more information on this). If you do this after use, you can use the sex toy cleaner before use i.e. you don’t have to boil or put it through a dishwasher cycle twice between uses.
3. In addition to thoroughly cleaning your toy, you can use a condom over it for extra precaution.
4. Let your sexual partner(s) know that you have used it with other people before so they can decide if they feel comfortable using it.
Will vibrators permanently desensitise my genitals?
No, vibrators or air suction toys will not permanently desensitise your genitals. Just like any form of sexual stimulation, if you do something consistently you can condition your arousal or orgasm response to that stimulation. This might mean, if you rely solely on vibrators to get aroused or orgasm, you might find it hard to achieve these without a vibrator. This won’t be permanent! You can simply re-condition these functions by varying your stimulation during partnered sex or masturbation. It might feel unusual at first but the more you do it, the more you will retrain your genitals and mind for a broader range of stimulation.
Additionally, some people find they can overstimulate their genitals when they use a vibrator. This is when the vibrations are so high that you start to feel numb or super sensitive and lose control of your feelings of arousal. In this case, we recommend taking a little 5 minute break and trying again on a lower vibration setting.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! We offer gift cards in amounts of $50, $100, $200, $300, and $500. Beautifully designer, you can opt to have the card physically sent to the receiver or have it emailed to their inbox. You can also write a personalised message on the card to make the gift that little bit extra special.
